HOW DO I KNOW IF IT’S AN EMERGENCY?

CAN I GO TO VEG FOR URGENT CARE?

WHERE CAN I TAKE MY PET BIRD OR EXOTIC PET IN AN EMERGENCY?

VEG is skilled to handle emergency care for avians, reptiles, and all types of exotic pets.

DO I HAVE TO CALL BEFORE COMING IN?

Though you can just walk into any of our 24 hour hospitals, we recommend calling first so we’re familiar with the situation when you come in.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT VEG?

When you take your pet to VEG, you’ll be seen by a veterinarian right away, even before filling out paperwork. We’ll even meet you at your car if you need help bringing in your pet. No waiting in the lobby; you stay with your pet the entire time, even if surgery is involved. And yes, we’re pet lovers, but we’re people-friendly too! We’ll openly discuss diagnosis and treatment options. And we always make sure the pet patient and pet parent are as comfortable as possible.

We had to bring our sweet Balinese cat Kai in for consistent vomiting at midnight. We have used 2 other emergency vets in years past here in oklahoma. I can say hands down this was the best emergency vet we have ever used. They were quick, efficient, had wonderful customer service, and genuinely cared for Kai. From the vet to the tech to the triage person-all of them were wonderful! Thankfully he was discharged by 330am after X-rays!

We spent the last three days at VEG with our beloved 5 year old dog, Jammer, initially suspecting he had HGE… which turned into a much more harrowing experience than we could have fathomed when he didn’t respond well to treatment. We were terrified, emotional, and thought we would have to euthanize him after 36-40 hours (and even planned his necropsy, prepared to say our goodbyes.) Each and every single vet and tech and receptionist we worked with over the past few days was nothing but compassionate, caring, supportive, and willing to discuss each and every option. The fact that this amazing team was even willing to consult criticalists on his behalf multiple times speaks to how much they care… and ultimately was what saved him, along to their top-notch care, their willingness to allow me to assist with treatments, and even permitting me to do his esophageal tube feedings unassisted. He is alive today thanks to the team at VEG. His future is unsure… and we have a long road ahead of us, but we wouldn’t have even had that option if not for this team. He is HOME, which is all I ever wanted through this ordeal, even if it’s not for long. I cannot, and I mean CAN NOT, thank everyone at VEG enough. Jam, my husband, and I are beyond grateful. Thank you for allowing us to stay with our boy throughout the insane holiday weekend, providing us everything we needed, and caring for him like he mattered to you like he matters to us. Dr. Summers, Dr. Huff, Dr. Mac, Dr. Lockhart, Dr. Logan — and most especially Jam’s angel of a tech, Sam — THANK YOU for saving him for us to see couch naps and car rides and joy again.

I hope you never have to go to the Emergency Vet…but if you do, this is the one. I am so incredibly grateful for the staff here. Dr. Ray was very knowledgeable and transparent. She did a wonderful job at putting us at ease when there wasn’t anything wrong, and did just as good of a job 3 days later when there was something wrong. She presented us with all options, making sure to go over R/B/A. The whole time the nurses and vet was working on her, we asked if we needed to move but they were always so insistent that we stay next to her and they would work around us so we could be by her the whole time. Ultimately, we had to make the tough call of putting our baby girl down. Although Dr. Ray’s shift ended at 7:00, she stayed the whole time until my husband and I were ready to leave. We never once felt like we were “just another patient.” Ein was always treated as if she were a staff member’s dog. We are forever grateful for this place and everything they did for Ein and us. ❤️
