★★★★★ When you walk into an emergency veterinary hospital, it’s one of the worst moments a dog owner can experience. Emergencies don’t happen on a schedule. They don’t wait until life is convenient. They happen fast, and in those moments, you’re putting everything you love into the hands of complete strangers and trusting that they know exactly what to do. That was our experience with our German Shepherd, Odin. Yesterday evening, around dinner time, Odin suffered GDV (bloat), and his stomach had twisted. We rushed him to VEG in Paramus, and from the second we walked through the door, the entire team moved with urgency, confidence, and professionalism. There was no hesitation and no wasted time. They took him immediately, explained what was happening, and got to work. The level of expertise on display was extraordinary. Dr. Maresca met with me, walked me through everything, answered every question, and laid out a clear plan. She was honest, knowledgeable, and incredibly reassuring without ever sugarcoating the seriousness of the situation. The surgery itself was exceptional. They successfully untwisted his stomach, found no necrosis, confirmed that his spleen was healthy, and completed the gastropexy successfully. The fact that less than twenty-four hours later Odin was on his feet, alert, responsive, and recovering as well as he was speaks volumes about the quality of the surgical work and the care he received afterward. This is a difficult, high-stakes emergency procedure, and Dr. Maresca and the entire surgical team performed it flawlessly. I stayed at the hospital until almost 11:30 PM waiting for the news that every dog owner hopes to hear—that our boy made it through surgery and was going to be okay. By 7:00 the next morning, before I even had the chance to call and ask, Dr. France had already sent an update letting us know that Odin had a good night, was resting comfortably, and that the plan was to transition him off injectable pain medication and get him eating again. That level of communication and consideration brought an incredible amount of peace of mind to both me and my fiancée. Dr. Weisburg then took over his care and continued that same standard of attentiveness and professionalism. The continuity between the doctors was seamless, and at every stage we knew exactly what was happening and what the next steps would be. What impressed me most was how well they balanced Odin’s recovery. They kept him comfortable without simply over-sedating him. They monitored him closely, kept up with his bloodwork, encouraged him to get on his feet, and treated him like an individual—not just another patient coming through the door. Life doesn’t stop because an emergency happens. Work, responsibilities, and everything else continue moving, and we couldn’t be at the hospital every minute of every day. Knowing that Odin was being cared for by people who genuinely took pride in what they do made an impossible situation infinitely easier to manage. Simply put, they saved our dog’s life. VEG Paramus is filled with highly skilled professionals who combine expertise, urgency, communication, and compassion at the highest level. From the front desk staff to the technicians to the doctors, every single person we encountered was outstanding. To Dr. Maresca, Dr. France, Dr. Weisburg, and everyone who played a role in Odin’s care: thank you for giving our boy a second chance. My fiancée and I will never forget what you did for him, and we will always be grateful for the skill, dedication, and kindness you showed during one of the hardest days of our lives. If your pet ever faces an emergency, I cannot recommend VEG Paramus highly enough. ★★★★★

I cannot say enough good things about VEG ER for Pets. I brought my dog here after a rough 36 hours of severe vomiting and diarrhea, and we were seen within an hour. The entire staff was incredibly kind and empathetic. What stood out the most was how accommodating they were—they actually encouraged me to stay right with her and treated her right in the waiting area because that’s where she felt the most comfortable, even though they had treatment rooms available. As someone who works in marketing, the only tiny critique I could give is that a follow-up call the next day would have been a great touch since it’s so standard now—but honestly, that doesn't change the 5-star experience. The only thing that truly matters is that they took amazing care of my girl and fixed her up. Thank you, VEG team!

Back in March, my baby Rudy had an emergency because he was vomiting and having stomach issues. I was extremely worried, especially after seeing the original estimate was around $1,500, but the team at VEG Paramus was incredibly kind and understanding. They worked with me financially and lowered the final cost to about $700 so Rudy could still get the care he needed. They treated him quickly and with so much care, and thankfully Rudy recovered well after. Very grateful for their compassion and help during such a scary moment.
