VEG Emergency Vet in Nora Indianapolis, Indiana

I cannot say enough good things about this emergency vet. I visited twice while dealing with a lot with my dog, Griz, and everyone was incredibly sweet, kind, and helpful both times. I was impressed not only by how the staff spoke to owners and treated the animals, but also by how they treated one another. Whenever someone needed help with a procedure or simply needed another person to help hold a dog still, someone immediately stopped what they were doing to help. That level of teamwork says a lot about the environment they’ve created. They offered me a blanket, a charger, food, snacks, and a drink. I was also able to remain with Griz almost the entire time, which was insanely helpful because he is a stage-five clinger. The only time they took him away was for X-rays, and they even offered to let me watch him through the window. I chose not to because I knew he would freak out if he could see me standing there, but I really appreciated being given the option. They were thorough and, honestly, very reasonably priced for an emergency vet. I expected to walk out paying at least twice what I did. When I still had concerns the following day, I called and they told me to bring him back in. As soon as I walked in and gave them his name, the woman at the front desk lit up and said, “Oh, you called! I have all of your information right here.” She had us checked in within minutes and thanked me for sending in photos and a timeline of everything that had happened. One of the vet techs who had previously assisted with Griz’s surgery also works here. The second we checked in the first night, she came running out saying, “I know this dog!” and personally checked on him because she had been involved in his earlier care. Everyone genuinely made us feel cared for during a stressful and scary situation. This will absolutely be the emergency vet I use from now on.

We have been to VEG four times, all four times we have been so pleased with the service we recieved. They did everything they could to work with our budget and help us afford Heidi's care, and my husband was so impressed this time, he has decided we will not be going anywhere else for urgent care. They are 40 minutes from us and we will always make the drive. Also, I was chatting to the receptionist and mentioned how I almost worked at VEG, and she said 'oh you totally should!' And sounded genuinely happy to be there. I work in vet med myself, and that is NOT something you hear very often. That spoke volumes. Well cared for staff equal well cared for patients. They also gave Heidi a bed during her stay and had comfy furniture for us to sit on. The technician who helped us was so gentle when he was cleaning up her wound and so nice to us. Nobody made us feel bad for being on a budget, which happens a lot at other ERs in the area. We have been to most of them, and VEG is by far the best experience we have had.

My dog, Saki, was admitted to VEG with a life-threatening fever of 106°F and was hospitalized for two nights. As soon as we arrived, Dr. Beene immediately started treatment. During the ultrasound, I appreciated how she gave details of each organ in real time so I could understand what was going on. The next morning, Dr. Zaremba was incredibly thorough. She took the time to answer all of my questions while starting second line treatments and explaining next steps. I’m an anxious dog mom, but never felt like a burden to the staff. Everyone treated us with kindness and compassion. Sarah went above and beyond to be proactive and patient with a fearful dog, Ashley was so helpful and caring when I was exhausted without sleep, and I am so appreciative to Nicky for placing me & saki in a private room so we could stay together during the hospitalization. I wish I had a full list of everyone’s name, but anyone who helped us - whether it was checking a temp, changing an IV/med, or physically carrying my dog outside to use the bathroom when she was too weak to walk - your care made a difference. Saki is my soul dog - thank you to the VEG team for giving us more time together. 💜
