Dr. Murphy was born in Maine and raised in Massachusetts and upstate New York. He received his veterinary degree in 2010 and completed a rotating small animal internship. He has practiced as an Emergency Veterinarian in New York City and the Boston area ever since. Dr. Murphy enjoys traveling, exploring new foods and restaurants, bird-watching, sitting on the beach, and spending time with his wife, kids, cats, and Chihuahua.

Yesterday could’ve been a nightmare but this place was truly amazing. My dog got into a prescription pill bottle and shared some with my cat. Dr. Hanlon helped clear their systems and monitor them until it was safe to go home. They gave me a private room with my cat & dog together so I could be with them both for the full 8 hours as they each got treatment, not having to sit in a waiting room desperate for updates. I even had DoorDash deliver dinner to the front desk and they brought it back to me. They gave us a litter box, water bowl, and multiple large blankets. The ability to be with both my dog and cat at the same time was worth every penny (and it was a lot of pennies).

Wonderful experience! The care and understanding that our dog received was amazing. From the minute we walked in the door and walked out the door our pet was with us, together through all the procedures we experienced understanding, patience, and professionalism with medical explanations along the way. We observed other pets and their owners being treated the same way. Keeping us together relieved a lot of anxiety and fear, which meant the world to us to be by his side and for him to see us. We want to thank the staff at VEG Shrewsbury for the amazing treatment that our Kangal received.

No one ever wants to have to visit the ER with their pet, but we cannot say enough good things about VEG. This was our first (and hopefully only) visit, but they were simply amazing. Our little guy ended up with a treble fishing hook embedded in his lips/mouth/nose. They took us right back when we arrived, pain meds were onboard in less than 15 min and he was sedated about 10 minutes after that. They carefully removed the hook and the barbs, all without one drop of blood. We were in and out of there in about an hour. While we are hoping to never have to go back, we certainly wouldn't hesitate, given the care and attention we received from all the staff.
