Originally from Venezuela, Dr. Sanmarti served as an Emergency Medicine and Critical Care doctor at several specialty practices before joining VEG. His special interest is in internal medicine, trauma, and critical care. His passion is to teach medical excellence and doctor development. Off-hours, Dr. Sanmarti loves spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He enjoys “everything ocean,” from cruising on a boat to diving.

I cannot say enough good things about VEG ER and the incredible team who cared for my 7 year old German Shepherd. At 5:30 a.m., I brought him in under the impression he had ingested insecticide. As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted and no time was wasted before they started evaluation. They quickly determined that X-rays were needed and, within minutes, identified life-threatening GDV.. his stomach literally flipped 360°. The team recognized the emergency immediately on the X-ray and wasted no time taking action. Thanks to their rapid diagnosis, and sense of urgency, he was in and out of surgery within hours, and their quick intervention undoubtedly saved his life. The facility was exceptionally clean, the equipment was modern and the level of 24/7 care and attention he received was truly unmatched. I am especially grateful to Dr. Lee, who stayed beyond her shift to perform the surgery, along with nurses Anthony and Mitch, who provided outstanding care. The follow-up care was equally impressive. Dr. Casali, Dr. Nair, Hannah, and Brittany were compassionate, knowledgeable, and kept me informed every step of the way. They treated my dog as if he were their own and gave me peace of mind during probably the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. It’s been just over three weeks since his surgery, and while his shaved legs still make it look like he’s wearing little ankle boots, his incision has healed beautifully. You’d never know he underwent major emergency surgery, and he’s back to being the happy, energetic boy I know and love. I will be forever grateful to this incredible team and highly recommend them to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care.

Our SERVICE Dog Suki was very bad she was not eating and would not stop throwing up so we decided to take her to VEG ER FOR PETS WE HAD NO IDEA IF THEY WERE GOOD OR NOT WE ARE FROM OUT OF TOWN Ohio Cleveland. I had an exceptional experience with the emergency team and truly can’t thank them enough. From the moment I walked in, the level of care and compassion stood out. Dr. Marti was incredible—calm, decisive, and clearly very skilled. She knew exactly what to do and led the team with intention, making a stressful situation feel much more controlled. She also took the time to walk me through a realistic plan of action, including financial considerations, which meant a lot since this was for a stray cat I care for. The nursing team—Angelica and Raquel—were equally amazing. They stayed with her, keeping her calm and comforted, and showed so much kindness not just to the cat but to me as well. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuine—they even made sure I had water and snacks while I waited. Mitch, who handled the X-rays, was extremely skilled and efficient. He was also constantly moving, making sure everything the doctor needed was ready without delay. You could tell the whole team worked seamlessly together. What stood out most was how much they truly cared. In a situation that could have been overwhelming, they created a calm, supportive environment and treated both of us with compassion and respect. I’m incredibly grateful for this team and the care they provided.
