Dr. Nick Thomas is an Iowa native who earned both his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Iowa State University. Following graduation, he has worked in both general practice and emergency medicine, ultimately discovering a deep passion for emergency and critical care.
Over the past several years, Dr. Thomas practiced in a busy ER/specialty hospital, where he also played a key role in training and mentoring veterinary interns. He has a strong interest in medical quality and education and finds great fulfillment in supporting veterinarians and support staff at all stages of their careers.
Dr. Thomas was drawn to VEG and the opportunity to help open and lead the East Grand Rapids hospital as Medical Director. He values VEG’s open-concept model and collaborative culture, which strengthen communication, fully integrate pet parents into their pets’ care, and allow the veterinary team to share both the challenges and joys of the profession. He is excited to build a hospital in East Grand Rapids that prioritizes transparency, high-quality medicine, and a supportive, team-centered environment for patients, clients, and staff alike.
