This place is magic. I’ve spent more time here than id like to admit over the last week due to my very ill cat but the care we have received has been absolutely exemplary. Compared to other hospitals my kitty had to stay at during the course of his illness, VEG is heads and shoulders above the rest. My boy Taz was seen 4-5 times here for functional ileus and kept overnight with a feeding tube. I loved that the crate he was kept in was warm, with dimmed lights, and a fish tank in view for some "kitty tv". His overnight nurse Haylea made it a point to introduce herself to me and show me his digs for the evening. His nasogastic tube and IV catheter stayed intact throughout the night at VEG (but subsequently were both dislodged in the same evening at a different hospital the next night)-- a testament to VEG's overnight monitoring. Their unique layout has enabled me to watch their team spring into action for very sick/critical patients while I was waiting for my less sick animal to be evaluated, and as a nurse practitioner and RN of many years, the teamwork and communication I witnessed were unmatched. I've spent about 15 hours here in the last week with my boy and can say that without fail, when you arrive you will be brought back right away and your animal will be triaged based on symptoms and vital signs. Cases are taken in order of criticality-- so if your pet isn't immediately the center of attention, consider yourself lucky. Trust and believe that if your animal needs critical attention, they will get it immediately! I have seen 8+ humans immediately huddle around the sickest animals who came in, with such excellent communication and competence that every one of those critical patients was stabilized and significantly more comfortable within minutes of their arrival. Worth mentioning that each and every time a very sick pet was brought in, I was given the option to retreat to a private room in case the scene was too upsetting for a pet owner. That is truly thoughtful and empathetic. If had human children I would be sad I couldn’t bring them here as this team supersedes a lot of human ER teams I have worked with and/or experienced. VEG is the best! Extra shout out to Haylea who took the best care of my kitty while he was admitted overnight, and Dr. Haake who spent precious time calling around to find my boy a critical care unit when he needed one despite her busy day and full patient load.

We made 2 trips to VEG on Colfax this week - once for my dog Vinny, who was pregnant, and a second time for one of her puppies, Little Girl. And while no one wants to be at the vet that often, I’m so glad we chose VEG. I cannot thank everyone enough for the kindness, and compassion we received. The personalized care is exceptional and I’m so glad I got to stay with my pups during such a stressful and emotional time. A special shout out to Mandie for being so patient and spending all the time with us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My kitty Zedd was having trouble breathing and we were really worried about him and couldn’t get him in anywhere else so we decided to take him over to VEG to get him some help. The entire experience was absolutely amazing. They got him in as soon as we walked in the door and they got him on Oxygen ASAP and ran through their check up. The vets were incredibly transparent through the entire process and they did not go crazy charging extra money on anything. I really appreciate the extra special care they took and I was right by his side throughout the entire process. I’m so happy we decided to rush him here rather than taking him to the normal vet and potentially having to wait while his breathing got worse. We learned that he has asthma and they went through all the steps with me on how to take care of our baby and make sure he was back to feeling better and breathing easier. Not only could I see the quality care they were giving to my kitty but also all the other animals at the clinic. Highly recommend VEG to anyone else who needs emergency care for their pet and knowing good well that they will do a spectacular job! Thank you so much for making our boy feel more like himself again! :)
