After a small animal internship at a specialty hospital in Texas, Dr. Mason began her ER DVM career in Wisconsin, serving as ER doctor for 13 years before becoming Medical Director.

Dr. Mason accepted the Medical Director position at VEG ER for Pets in Green Bay, as it presented the best opportunity to serve pet patients and their families in their time of need. She enjoys the autonomy of each case, from caring for the presenting symptoms to addressing pet families' needs; as MD, she is able to accommodate every unique scenario, which makes the job exceptionally rewarding to her. In true VEG fashion, Dr. Mason says, “Being able to say YES is my favorite thing!”

I can't say enough good things about the care my older dog received at VEG ER for Pets. I was greeted quickly and the techs were gentle, caring, and professional. I loved that I got to stay with my dog. A vet came quite quickly to assess him, but if I remember (I was so tired) his vitals had already been taken. Aspiration pneumonia was suspected, and she went over and diagnostic options and price. I do understand that if there had been more life threatening cases, I might have waited longer, and I'm totally fine if I had. My dog wasn't going to die that minute, I was on the way back from a camping roadtrip to Maine with him and drove the last 5 hours straight to get there after I suspected what might be wrong (he's had it before). All the interactions I heard and observed around me were so compassionate, caring, and professional. I was amazed at how much I actually liked this type of treatment. People being able to stayed with the pets for the most part is a huge plus for me.

I truly cannot say enough amazing things about the team here. I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put my dog, Coco, down, and the compassion, kindness, and support they showed me throughout the entire experience meant more than I can explain. Every single person I interacted with was incredibly caring and comforting. You can genuinely tell that this is a team that loves what they do and has a real love for both animals and the people who come through their doors. During such an emotional and difficult moment, they made me feel supported, heard, and cared for while treating Coco with so much gentleness and respect. They made sure I understood the options available for Coco and never made me feel pressured toward one decision. When I asked for their advice about what would truly be in his best interest, they were honest, compassionate, and thoughtful. It was very clear that their priority was Coco’s comfort and quality of life, and I am incredibly thankful for the guidance they gave me. The entire team went above and beyond to make an extremely painful situation as comfortable and peaceful as possible. They were patient with me, gave me the time I needed, answered my questions, and showed Coco so much love and dignity in his final moments. Their compassion wasn’t just directed toward him—they cared about how I was doing too, and that made such a difference. They were also very affordable, especially for the level of care and attention they provided. This is an amazing team of people who clearly have a passion for what they do. I will forever be grateful for the way they cared for Coco and for the kindness they showed me while I was saying goodbye to him. I could not have asked for a better team to have beside us during such a difficult moment. ❤️🐾
