Dr. Kate Cappe grew up on the island of Maui, Hawaii. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from California Polytechnic State University in 2010 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. After graduation, she completed a one-year rotating internship at VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital in South Florida, with a strong focus on emergency medicine and surgery.
Dr. Cappe went on to practice emergency medicine in South Florida for more than five years before moving to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, in 2020 to be closer to family. After two more years as an ER doctor, she founded Pet Care Professionals, a mobile veterinary practice, and later expanded her career into veterinary telemedicine and medical leadership.
After exploring different areas of veterinary medicine, Dr. Cappe realized how much she missed the energy, collaboration, and challenge of the ER. She was drawn to VEG’s unique approach to the emergency experience, commitment to exceptional medicine, and focus on developing and empowering veterinary teams. The opportunity to help build a hospital and its culture in the community she calls home made VEG the right next step.
